Some schools have begun creating their own custom one and two-day EcoCamp sessions for students. As long as there are 10 or more students, we can create a one or two-day EcoCamp program for your group on any day or days of the week with advance notice. Please call 1-800-800-2SUN for details. |
Not only will your kids enjoy exploring the wilderness on over 100-acres of the Indigo Nature Preserve in Watkinsville, Georgia, they will also learn about everything from solar power to organic gardening, building underground homes and caring for endangered carnivorous plants. EcoCamp is held in Oconee County, 20 minutes south of Athens, 20 minutes north of Madison, and 75 minutes east of Atlanta.  Most of the experience is hands-on, with campers building and creating projects each day which they can take home with them! Your kids will plant and bring home several types of carnivorous plants. Each camper will build and take home their own solar-powered race car. They will plant an organic herb garden to keep on a window sill at home. They will create art from the sun, and a bird-feeder from items collected on the preserve itself. Your child will even grow their very own pineapple plant to take home with them! (The five-day program includes over $50 worth of carnivorous plants and solar kits to take home at no extra charge!)  EcoCamp allows campers to explore the outdoors while learning about clean energy, organic farming, carnivorous plants and more. We explore solar and wind power within the Clean Energy Exhibition, carnivorous plants within our greenhouse and outdoor gardens, and gardening within the organic farm. Age Range: 5 - 16 Hours: Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Sunday: Noon - 6 p.m. (includes bonfire) EXTENDED HOURS OPTION: Campers can be dropped off as early as 6 a.m., and picked up as late as 6 p.m., by paying a small extra fee at registration. FREE BONUS FOR PARENTS: There is a two-hour tour at the start of camp on Friday, and a bonfire beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, either of which parents can join in on at no extra charge. (Parents are welcome to stay for the entire camp by paying $5 per day, per parent.)
